Tips for helping your boat make a happy move!
Know your height
Height is the most difficult dimension to accommodate in transport. Legal height on the trailer is 13'6" measured from the road surface, and with permitting, it may be possible to transport taller boats, however, every effort should be taken to remove items that add additional height.
Radars, antennas, observation towers, and outriggers may need professional removal before transport.
Many marina facilities are surrounded with low-hanging trees and even small branches can do damage.
Better to remove than replace!
Secure loose EVERYTHING
Cushions, canvas, antennas, outriggers, bimini tops, ropes and fenders -- everything and anything should be stored or removed. Travel at highway speed is equivalent to your boat enduring hurricane force winds!
Take photos
Having an accurate record of the condition of your vessel prior to handling helps you to remember what parts and equipment went in which location on reassembly.
Lower fuel level
Do your best to use some fuel prior to transport. The same goes for stored water and gear that add needless weight.
